San Francisco babysitting update: I am regularly asked what typical rates are for babysitting these days - I know we have posted this before, but let's just summarize again:
Babysitting rates are typically $15/hour for one child, $18/ hour for two kids.
If
more than one family is involved, it is $10/kid/hour, with a discount for the family that brings siblings. So if two kids
from one family and one kid from another family is involved, it would
be ~$16/hour for the family bringing siblings, and $10/hour for the other kid.
Overnight rates are $75 flat rate for the time kids are sleeping, and then the typical rates
for when they are awake in the evening and in the morning.
Nanny rates are different, usually less per hour since nannies are part to full time employees.
Hope this helps!
Of course this depends on where in the country you are located. Some of the less urban places in the US can find babysitters closer to $12 and hour.
